Its address is Telliskivi 60m and it is located in the hip Telliskivi neighbourhood where the former factory area is nowadays a hotspot for restaurants, bars, art galleries and quaint shops. The Seaplane Harbour accommodates one of Europe’s grandest maritime museums. You are invited to see the authentic submarine Lembit from the 1930s, the century-old steam-powered icebreaker Suur Tõll, a Short 184 seaplane replica, mines, cannons and many other life-sized exhibits. The museum and the Seaplane Hangar have been recognised with a number of awards: Estonia’s Most Tourist-Friendly Museum 2012, Europa Nostra Grand Prix 2013, Special Commendation from the European Museum of the Year 2014, and a number of others.
The Seaplane Harbour museum is a memorable experience: lots of interesting reading, a voyage around the world in the Yellow Submarine, photos taken in naval uniforms, the big aquarium, the simulators and many more exciting activities.
The Seaplane Harbour, including the Seaplane Hangar, was built to become part of Peter the Great’s naval fortress 100 years ago on orders from the Russian emperor Nicholas II. The architecture of the Hangar is remarkable, featuring the world’s first columnless thin-shell concrete domes of such volume. The building was used for seaplanes until the Second World War!
At the banquet, there is a peformange by Ange. Ange is a group of folk musicians who met at the Heino Eller Music School. Their journey together began during school, jamming with other classmates in the evenings. Four young musicians came together at Kertu's invitation when dance music was needed for a wedding—this is how we formed, and now Ange continues to bring joy and keep people dancing. Get your dancing shoes ready!
Mihkel is a fourth-generation folk musician who has lived in various places in Estonia and abroad, including Iceland. He spends most of his time playing the accordion and concertina, performing at various events, and teaching music to both young and older students. In the spring of 2024, he graduated from the Heino Eller Music School in Tartu, specializing in folk music. |
Randmar comes from Tapa. His musical taste blends folk with a touch of jazz. In the band, he plays the mandolin and takse care of the rhythm and harmonies | Kertu is a folk musician at heart. Her main instrument is the violin, but she is also interested in several other instruments. For example, her newest friend in recent years is the bowed lyre (hiiu kannel). In addition to her great love for music, Kertu is deeply involved in the world of linguistics at the University of Tartu. In her free time, she sails the seas, working as a boatswain handling ropes, fenders, and anchors, but bee venom literally takes her breath away. | Emma Lotta Kiviberg is a young and passionate folk musician who has grown up immersed in Estonian folk music since childhood. She is currently pursuing her path at the Viljandi Culture Academy, where she studies traditional singing and the bagpipe, but her greatest love and the instrument closest to her heart is the flute. |
The banquet also includes live music from Sandra Hiie - an electric violinist. Sandra likes to be on stage and fill it with her energy. She wants to offer the audience emotions that are positive and happy through a musical performance. The program is built with popular songs from Abba to Avicii. She also talks between songs to keep the mood going and eventually get the crowd dancing.
Sandra completed her education with classical music until the end of university. However, pop music is what became close to her heart after finishing university, and what she has been doing on a daily basis for the past 10 years.
